Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unparalleled demands on modern healthcare systems since early 2020. Centrillion’s response has demonstrated its resilience, bringing innovative technology to market quickly to aid in the fight against COVID-19. Centrillion mobilized all of its resources and teams to fight the pandemic. As soon as the first SARS-CoV-2 genome sequence was made available, our teams began to develop advanced sequencing and detection assays. We designed new DNA chips and tested them in socially-distanced labs in record time. Our research has resulted in one of the most sensitive SAR-CoV-2 tests to date and our just published sequencing chips for variant detection.
Centrillion’s clinical laboratory in Oregon (Molecular Vision Laboratory) quickly established COVID-19 nucleic acid tests and passed state lab quality assessments. Our clinical test team worked long hours including evenings and weekends to help hospitals and nursing home by providing COVID-19 tests.
Early in the pandemic, we became aware of the PPE shortages. We opened our stock room and donated our masks and gloves to local hospitals. In an employee pandemic response volunteer meeting, we learned that local nursing homes could not get hand sanitizer for their residents. Our chief chemist went to the lab and used our reagent stocks to make sanitizing solutions which we donated to them.
We are proud to be able to support frontline workers. We are committed to working with our communities and to use our skills and technologies to fight this pandemic and detect emerging pathogens. For an industry that thrives through constant discovery, the COVID-19 crisis is both the challenge of a lifetime and a potential catalyst to reaching new heights of achievement. We will emerge from this stronger and wiser.
